Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Syahirah Sy Shiekh is a Vice Chancellor at the University Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) and former Dean of Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS). Her expertise focuses in the fields of Gender, Politics, and Governance. Dr. Sharifah Syahirahis actively engaged in various national and international organizations, including the National Council of Women's Organization (NCWO) and the Malaysian Social Science Association. She isknown for her eloquent representation of Malaysian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in regional and global forums and is a sought-after speaker at conferences, radio and TV shows. As a prolific researcher, Dr. Sharifah Syahirah has made significant contributions to academia through her publications in respected journals and book chapters.

Her work primarily revolves around the intricate relationship between gender dynamics and politics. She has also successfully managed various research grants, including Empowerment of Training & Skills for Rural Women (INFRA) (2023), Sustainable Development Goals Impact Evaluations APPGM-SDG (2024, 2023, 2022), AKEPT Competency Excellence (ACE) Women Leadership in Higher Learning Institution (2022), the Effectiveness of Rural Development Training INFRA (2020), the National Survey on Young Women (2016), and the study of Sexual Harassment in Sports (2019). Her outstanding dedication and contributions have earned her prestigious national awards, such as the Global Pioneering Women Leader Award in 2020, Malaysia's Women Leadership Award in 2019, and the Mara Educator Excellence Award in 2016,highlighting her pivotal role in advancing gender studies and political discourse.
