Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) in Computer Application Development (CT204)
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) in Computer Application Development is a homegrown degree program specifically designed to deliver a suitable level of theoretical and practical understanding in information technology and software engineering that are useful in the workplace. Its first intake was in January 2020 and has achieved full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in May 2022.
This programme consists of various Body of Knowledge in Information Technology and offers courses such as advanced object-oriented programming, mobile applications development, advanced application development, enterprise application development, software testing and quality assurance, introduction to data analytics, business information management strategy, integrated marketing communication, entrepreneurship, final year project and industrial training. Students learn to design, develop, implement and integrate various computer applications development using latest technology through a mix of theoretical and hands-on activities.
At the end of the program, graduates should be able to demonstrate specific skills in the areas of information technology and software engineering as well as apply their knowledge and skills to solve problems and make decisions in fast growing information technology field.
This programme is suitable for those who are interested in working with the government or private sectors as Software Developer/Engineer, Web Developer, Mobile Apps Developer, Full-stack Developer, Database Administrator, System Analyst, Software Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst, DevOps Engineer or UI/UX Designer.
Graduates can also further their study at master level in local or private higher institutions in specific field such as Software Engineering, Information Science, Computer Science or Business Information Technology.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONS: CONVENTIONAL
DURATION : 3 YEARS (9 SEMESTER)

- A pass in STPM with a minimum grade of C (CGPA 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
- A pass in STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
- A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
- Diploma in Non-Computing (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 can be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment;
- Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR
- Candidates with a pass in Mathematics, need to take a reinforcement Mathematics with appropriate topics in the discipline of Information Technology and Information Systems at the beginning of the study.
OR
- Diploma in Computing (Level 4, MQF) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. Candidates with a CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment; OR
- Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 ; OR
- Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR
- A pass A-Level with minimum Grade D (GP 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects including Mathematics; OR
- A pass UEC with minimum Grade B in any FIVE (5) subjects including Mathematics.
- A pass International Baccalaureate (IB) with at least 24 points.
- A pass in STPM with a minimum grade of C (CGPA 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects; OR
ENGLISH COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT (INTERNATIONAL STUDENT)
Achieve a minimum score of MUET Band 3.5; OR CEFR (High B1); OR IELTS 5.0; OR TOEFL 40; OR PTE 47; OR ELS 107; OR CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH 156.
If a student does not meet this requirement, the HEP must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.
