3151. AUTHORITY OF UNIVERSITY STAFFAll university staff are responsible for reminding, advising, and taking disciplinary action against students. They also have the authority to issue compound notices to any student found violating regulations.52. AUTHORITY OF SECURITY GUARDSSecurity guards appointed by the university have the authority to take preventive action and are authorised to detain and question any student who does not comply with regulations.53. UNIVERSITY STUDENT DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE (USDC)(a) All A and B categories must be reported to the Office of Student Affairs & Alumni (SAA) to be referred to the Chairperson of USDC.(b) The USDC consists of no fewer than six (6) members appointed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of SAA, including: (i) The Director of SAA as Chairperson, or any appropriate officer at the discretion of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of SAA; (ii) A staff from outside of the SAA as the Secretary; (iii) Four (4) Lecturers/Senior Executives/Executives as members; (iv) One (1) Counsellor (Observer); (v) One (1) member of the SRC/Disciplinary and Ethics Exco/Welfare Exco (Observer).(c) A quorum for disciplinary procedures consists of the Chairperson and two (2) USDC members (excluding the Secretary).(d) For each case, the Chairperson of USDC must appoint a Student Disciplinary Investigation Officer Team, led by one (1) Senior Executive/Executive of the SAA.(e) The Student Disciplinary Investigation Officer Team must consist of at least three (3) members, as follows: (i) One (1) Senior Executive/Executive of the SAA; (ii) Two (2) staff members (Executive/Assistant Executive/Senior Clerk/Clerk).Note: The Student Disciplinary Investigation Officer Team must include both male and female staff members.Student Handbook and Disciplinary Regulations of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia
