2429. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONDITION OF BORROWED MATERIALSBorrowers are responsible for the library materials in their possession.(Refer to Clause 31: LOSS OF LIBRARY BOOKS)30. LATE RETURN FINES FOR GENERAL COLLECTION MATERIALSStudents who return General Collection books after the due date will be fined RM1.00 per day for each book. The maximum late fine is RM50.00.31. LOSS OF LIBRARY BOOKS(a) A material will be considered lost if: (i) It is reported missing after a library stock check; (ii) It is reported lost by the borrower; (iii) It is reported lost by a user, and a search has been conducted three (3) times within a month.(b) The following penalties will be imposed on borrowers who lose library books: (i) Replacing the book with the same or latest edition + processing fee of RM25.00; (ii) Paying the current market price of the book + processing fee of RM25.00 + late return fine.(c) If the book does not have a listed price or is no longer available in the market, its price will be determined based on the original purchase price from the acquisition record, with a 10% annual increase, subject to a maximum of 100%;(d) If the price of the book cannot be determined, the borrower must pay the following rates: (i) Local books %u2013 Estimated price to a maximum of RM200 + processing fee of RM25; (ii) Foreign books %u2013 Estimated price to a maximum of RM500 + processing fee of RM25;(e) Payments made for lost/damaged materials (if found later) cannot be refunded after one (1) month from the date of payment.32. NON-GENERAL COLLECTION MATERIALSReference materials, restricted circulation items, magazines, newspapers, media equipment, and similar items are not allowed to be taken out without the permission of library staff.Student Handbook and Disciplinary Regulations of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia
