5PART I: PRELIMINARYThe Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) hereby establishes the following regulations:1. CITATIONThe regulations contained in this book may be cited as the Student Handbook and DisciplinaryRegulations of Poly-Tech University of Malaysia.2. INTERPRETATIONWhere the following terms are used in these regulations, their meanings are as defined as follows::%u201cAct 555%u201d refers to the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996;%u201cAcademic activity%u201d includes activities related to learning that are conducted by the university and are mandatory for students to attend;%u201cObscene material%u201d refers to any immoral material in the form of writing, images, drawings, or audiovisual content intended to arouse sexual desire;%u201cDrug%u201d refers to any type of drug or substance listed at the time in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952;%u201cExecutive%u201d refers to individuals holding positions or roles within the university that involve operational, managerial, and strategic responsibilities. They are responsible for implementing decisions and directives set by senior management or higher authorities in the university hierarchy.%u201cSexual harassment%u201d is defined as interpreted in Clause 7;%u201cStudent Affairs & Alumni (SAA)%u201d is a division that manages and handles all aspects of support and resources to enhance student overall development and well-being;%u201cUniversity Student Disciplinary Appeal Committee (USDAC)%u201d means the Committee established under Clause 64(a);%u201cUniversity Student Disciplinary Committee (USDC)%u201d means the Committee established under Clause 53(b);%u201cStudent ID%u201d refers to the official identity card issued by the university to the student;%u201cCampus%u201d means the area or areas, together with all buildings or other structures thereon, which belong to or are in the possession of or used, whether permanently or otherwise, by the university;Student Handbook and Disciplinary Regulations of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia
